Devotional February 15, 2017
Happy Hump day everyone! It is the middle of the week and I hope you guys have had a good first half. Sadly, today is my last vacation day until I get back to work tomorrow. This week has been a week of adjustments and busyness. From doctors’ appointments, errands, house chores, diaper changes, to spending time with the twins and caring for their needs, you can see how busy it has been for me.
Tomorrow as I get back to work and back to the routine, I must make sure that I set up time management and priorities in my life. If I don’t things are going to be a mess quite quickly. I don’t want to call myself an expert, but having twins has taught me a lot about priorities and time management. I remember having a conversation with my wife this week and I told her how it seems like I do my best work either under pressure or with minimal time. I am not sure why that is, but does that happen to you?
Now with three kids I must be intentional about everything I do. From ministry, to writing, to family time, etc. Time is the most valuable gift we have been given so I want to maximize it to the fullest.
I have lately been drawn into the book of Romans and really sinking in a lot of the context. I love what Paul writes in Romans 8:35
“Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? Verse 37 No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.
Nothing can separate us from God’s love. As I am writing this to you, I am also holding my newborn baby girl and could not imagine anything happening to her. As a father, I have a protective and providing instinct. I will do whatever it takes for my children even if it cost me my life. I am sure many fathers out there would say the same. So, if we feel this strongly towards our children, how much more those our heavenly father feel towards us? How much more does our heavenly father want to protect and provide for us?
Nothing and I mean nothing can separate you from God’s love. It doesn’t matter what your past may have looked like, what your present may be or what your future might result to, God’s love is bigger, wider and deeper.
I hope this can liberate you the way it did to me. This verse assures me that God is by my side no matter what. Now this is not an excuse for me to do whatever I want, but this is a free pass that leads me to a new life.
So, this year let’s experience God’s love like never before.
Application Questions: Have you truly experienced God’s love in your life? If you have to think twice about it then today is your day. True love is in Jesus Christ and to go to the father you must first go to the Son. So, today decide to fully commit yourself to Christ and watch how his love will shower your life.
